No, not at all. Our courses are designed so that you can complete some of the work at home, and in just a few classroom and pool sessions, you’ll be ready for your open water training.
No, you just have to be comfortable being in the water.
No, you’ll just need to provide your own snorkeling gear - the rest of the equipment will be made available to you during your training from your dive center.
There are three ways you can complete your certification. Our member Dive Centers offer open water dives at a local lake between April and November. You could also complete your dives on one of our many Dive Center sponsored trips. Lastly, you can obtain what is called a Letter of Referral, which will allow you to complete your dives on a vacation elsewhere.
Then we might suggest a private course. Most of our Dive Centers offer individual training with one of their professionally trained instructors. This will ensure that you can complete the course at your own pace, and best accommodate your scheduling needs.
You’ll encounter all sorts of wonderful creatures when you’re diving. Fish, turtles, rays, beautiful corals, and many other animals you don’t see on land. Because we’re unfamiliar with these creatures, we fear them unnecessarily.
Simply contact your local Dive Center for course schedules and details, and they’ll reserve a space in a class for you.
Kids as young as 10 years old can become certified divers!
No! Your diver certification is a lifetime certification so there is no need to re-certify after completing all of your training. If after learning to dive, you are unable to dive for an extended period of time, our Dive Centers offer Refresher Courses.
