I’ve Learned to Dive – Now what’s next?

Diving is like any other activity.  To get really good at it more training is necessary. Several classes can accomplish this.

Your next step is to take the Advanced Open Water Course. This training includes diving in several environments that you have not experienced during your initial training.  Completing a deep dive, learning underwater navigation, and by diving at night, under the supervision of an Instructor,  you will expand your horizons and increase your diving safety and enjoyment.

Follow that up with the Rescue Diver Course.  This course is not just designed to teach you how to rescue another diver in trouble, you will learn how NOT to get into trouble in the first place.  In addition, should something go wrong, you will learn self-rescue.  It will also help keep you AND your buddy from getting into trouble.  CPR and first Aid are also taught during Rescue training.

Specialty Diver Training is an additional way to keep the learning process going.  Among the more popular specialties are Nitrox, Wreck Diver, Underwater Digital Photography, and Drysuit, to mention a few of the specialties offered. Nitrox is, by far, the most popular.

Nitrox, also known as enriched air, is a newer specialty that is fast becoming the most popular.  Nitrox allows you to extend you bottom time, and thus enjoy longer dives.  A nice side effect of Nitrox is that It also leaves you less tired after the dives.
